Innovation and technology are paving future pathways, allowing high quality inspections to be completed at a distance with wider adaption of technologies reducing cost and travel time.
Traditionally surveys and inspections have required surveyors and auditors to be physically present onboard an asset. However, several factors are driving the push for remote inspections to enhance safety and environmental compliance as well as reducing cost and inspection times.
Safety is a major benefit of remote asset inspections, using remotely operated vehicles and virtual technology surveyors can carry out their inspections in complete safety without physically entering confined spaces or harsh environments.
This can be extremely advantageous for incident and damage surveys allowing for a quick overview of the situation allowing the surveyor to provide guidance initially without waiting for travel time, reducing overall cost and potentially out of service time allowing more opportunity for the asset to make revenue.
